ONGOING ACTIVITIES
OBSERVATIONS, IMPRESSIONS AND STATUS OF CONSERVATION OF GEOSITES
If you have recently visited a geosite within this geopark please share your experience in a few words in the form below. Any information is welcome, mainly those related to the state of preservation, explanatory and directional panels, the ease or difficulty of identifying the geosite, the anthropogenic impact (garbage, graffiti, vandalism, etc.) as well as personal opinions related to the aesthetic value, the scientific importance as and any other comments.

The Buzăului UNESCO Geopark is located in the south-east of Romania, in the bend of the Eastern Carpathians and covers an area of 1036 km2. The geopark includes many geological and paleontological sites of great scientific value, including unique geological phenomena: amber deposits, diapirs and salt caves, mud volcanoes, numerous mineral springs and natural gas emissions that keep a permanent flame burning, erratic blocks of Breccia salt, and a cultural heritage that includes, among many others, the cave settlements from Aluniș-Bozioru. In addition to the 3 existing museums (the Vasile Voiculescu Memorial House in Pârscov, the Colți Amber Museum and the Bisoceană Zestrea House), the Geopark team has also set up the following tourist spots: the Museum of Shapes in Bozioru, 7 story-telling places in Lopătari, Time of Man from Mânzălești, Aluniș Art Center, Porta Geoparcului Geogate – visitor center in the town of Sătuc. As a sustainable development territory, Buzău County stands out in that it develops, experiments and improves sustainable development concepts, strategies and tools aimed at the social, cultural, educational, civic and economic development of communities, using resources and natural heritage , cultural and human of the area in a responsible, sustainable and constructive way.
